LESS IS SOMETIMES MORE

How to choose games for a neurodiverse person?

Start with the need

Think about whether it's studying, talking about emotions, resting, practicing memory, or just having fun.

Check the game before

Pay attention to ads, sounds, flickering, time pressure, sudden messages, and the ability to turn off music.

Don't be guided solely by age

A person may need a simpler form with more difficult content, or vice versa. Age is only a guideline.

Let it interrupt

Ending the game before the end of the round is not a failure. A break can be the right response to overload.

Avoid coercion

A game about emotions will not help if it becomes a test, evaluation or mandatory training of correct reactions.

Observe the effect after the game

It is not only the behavior during the game that is important, but also the tension, fatigue and regeneration after the game.

Simple first-time use plan

  1. Adult opens the game first and checks ads, sounds, time, and policies.
  2. You choose one short taskinstead of browsing the entire catalog.
  3. You set the possibility of interrupting without translation and without completing the level.
  4. After the game, you check your mood, not just the score and the number of correct answers.

Important information

Listing a game in a catalog doesn't mean it's suitable for every neurodiverse person. Some services include ads, animations, sounds, time pressure, or a reward system.

Games are not a substitute for therapy, diagnosis or individual support. Instead, they can be a tool for learning, talking, resting and spending time together.
