When the researcher thinks he is conducting an experiment... and the observed person begins to direct the action

A report from a space observer: analysis of the behavior of the terrestrial species "Professor P." in conditions of growing uncertainty and spontaneous changes in the rules of the game

Poranek na placu.
Dwoje bada ciszę świata.
Kto obserwuje?

Protocol Start [Object P]

The professor showed up on time. Nine in the morning. Just like we had agreed to do yesterday.

But something was different.

He didn't look like an ordinary researcher. He wasn't in observation mode.

He sat down across from me, but didn't immediately pay full attention to me.

He looked around the square. He looked at people. At the fountain. At the cameras. At the passing birds.

It's as if he's trying to predict every move in his environment before taking his next steps.

It was fascinating. People usually try to control only one variable – me.

He – everything.

Observational data

We sat down. We were silent.

Silence is my domain. Researchers are usually afraid of it.

Professor P. was silent.

That meant one thing: he was really starting to observe differently.

And then I decided to introduce a variable that he didn't expect.

"What would you do if someone from the Institute watched our meeting from hiding?" I asked calmly.

The professor raised his eyebrows. Minimally.

He didn't answer.

It was exactly what I wanted to evoke.

There was a slight consternation in his eyes. He understood that he was no longer just the experimenter.

He was not ready for the fact that someone else could manipulate the rules.

Hypothesis three: the investigation changes direction

"Then," he said at last, "we should check who is watching us."

I didn't expect such a move.

It was bold. People rarely take action when they don't know the full context.

"Agreed," I replied calmly. "But first we have to set the rules of the game.

The professor nodded.

He made the first move towards the street.

I followed him.

Twist: the first clues

Someone left a strange object on the corner of the square.

Small, shiny, metallic.

He didn't look lost.

He was not human.

The professor saw it. His reaction was immediate.

He didn't pull out his phone. He didn't try to analyze.

He just watched. Carefully.

"I think someone wanted us to find it," he said quietly.

Yes, that was the moment when the experiment turned into an investigation.

We were no longer just participants – we became detectives of our own history.

Observational Analysis

Professor P. remained calm. He did not accelerate. He did not make an unnecessary movement.

I noticed that he was starting to learn my way of seeing.

He doesn't try to predict me. He tries to understand the situation in my terms.

This is rare.

Very rare.

Preliminary conclusion

Today's meeting showed that the experiment is no longer one-sided.

Professor P. ceased to be only an observer.

He became a partner in the analysis and investigation.

And I...

I can afford more than before.

Our galactic alliance is entering a phase where the rules can change at any time.

And I have a feeling that the next note will reveal something that Professor P. did not foresee.
