A Space Observer's Report: An Analysis of Contact with a Representative of the Earth Species "Professor P."

Patrzy na mnie.
Myśli, że odkrył kosmitę.
Nie wie, że ja też.

Protocol Start [Object P]

I didn't tell him everything.

People have an interesting feature: they are convinced that a conversation begins when someone says the first sentence.

It's like communication is like a light switch — click and suddenly a relationship appears.

Meanwhile, the conversation starts much earlier.

It begins with the repetition of steps on the pavement.

In the glances cast stealthily in shop windows.

In the one who stops at the bench first and who pretends to be just passing by.

Professor P. thought he had started observing me a few weeks ago.

It was cute.

I started observing him much earlier.

Hypothesis one: the professor believes that he was the one who discovered me

He looked at me with that special mixture of emotions that I recognize from afar.

Curiosity.

Uncertainty.

Excitement that someone tries not to show.

This is a typical reaction of people when they think they have touched something unknown.

A researcher who suddenly discovers a new species.

An astronomer who saw a strange signal from space.

A man who begins to suspect that the world is a little bigger than he was told.

I didn't correct it.

People really need the feeling that they have discovered something.

This makes them feel calmer.

And a calm person is much more predictable.

Observational data

During our conversation, I conducted a standard behavior analysis.

Professor P. reacts in a very interesting way.

When he is stressed, his voice becomes slightly slower.

It's as if the brain is trying to keep up with emotions.

When he thinks intensely, he frowns only on one side of his face — the left.

This is a small detail, but it repeats itself very regularly.

However, I was most interested in something else.

Eye contact.

Most people can't look into the eyes of another person for long.

They look away, run away with their gaze, pretend to be interested in something in the background.

The professor did not.

He looked long and intently, as if trying to remember every detail of my face.

It was... refreshing.

Hypothesis two: the professor is not accidental

We sat in silence for a while.

People are very afraid of silence.

They usually try to fill it immediately with words, a joke, a question or a nervous comment about the weather.

The professor did not do that.

He was silent.

And that's when I decided to do a little experiment.

I said calmly:

"You're not the first person to watch me."

He froze.

It was a very subtle move, but for someone who watches people closely, completely legible.

Her shoulders tensed minimally.

The head moved back a few millimeters.

Surprise.

This is exactly the reaction I expected.

Critical information

He looked at me carefully.

More and more questions appeared in his head.

I could see it in the way his breathing rhythm changed.

People think that telepathy is about reading minds.

This is not true.

Just look.

Really look.

So I said another sentence.

"The institute you work for... is not the only institution that conducts observations."

This time he did not react immediately.

He was silent.

His brain worked very intensively.

Turn of events

I got up from the bench.

The professor also stood up, a little automatically, as if the body was reacting faster than it thought.

I took a step towards the pavement.

Then I stopped and looked at him again.

"Tell me one thing."

"Yes?" he answered.

I looked at him very carefully.

And then I asked calmly:

"Did your Institute tell you why they chose you?"

He fell silent.

And then I saw something really interesting.

He didn't know the answer.

Preliminary conclusion

Professor P. is convinced that he is studying a newcomer from another planet.

This is a very logical hypothesis from his point of view.

But I begin to suspect something completely different.

Perhaps it is also part of the experiment.

Perhaps someone is checking whether a human and a space autistic person can communicate.

And if so...

We are both being studied.

Final note

We made an appointment for tomorrow.

Square.

Nine in the morning.

People like full hours.

They put their world in order.

The professor is convinced that we are starting a conversation.

I have the impression that the real experiment is just beginning.

And something tells me that something even more interesting will happen tomorrow.
